D.O.P. Pago de Otazu

Genios de Otazu is an artistic project that the Otazu Foundation has been promoting since 2016 and seeks synthesize and combine the creative work of the plastic artist and that of the oenologist. It is a dialogue. It is a conversation between the universe of the artist and the universe of wine. Two universes that do not collide. On the contrary. One learns from the other. Any lover of wine, art or nature can approach Genios de Otazu, for example, by purchasing some of these bottles that are pieces of art, and will enjoy an extraordinary wine, but also the work that houses and contains it. A kaleidoscope of multiple opportunities.

Genios de Otazu #1 – David MagánGenios de Otazu #2 – Pablo Armesto

In each edition, two so far (Genios de Otazu #1 – David Magán and Genios de Otazu #2 – Pablo Armesto), the Otazu Foundation chooses a highly prestigious artist so that in the first phase of the project he will reinterpret with his own language the aesthetics of a wine barrel. This supposes the creation of a work of art that is added to the Collection of the Otazu Foundation located in the Navarrese winery. As part of the project, in addition to reinterpreting the aesthetics of a barrel with his own language, the artist must also be the conductor in the production of a very special wine. This process begins with the harvest by the artist, advised by the technical director of Bodega Otazu, and continues with the assembly of the wine, which is also carried out by the creator, as well as the design of the label and the box that will contain the bottle.

Genios de Otazu #1

DAVID MAGÁN

This edition, limited to 600 bottles, with only 300 available for sale (the other 300 are shared between the winery and the artist), is presented in a methacrylate work that In addition to protecting the bottle, it interacts with it to ensure that the wine transcends its product category and is placed in the field of experience.

Genios de Otazu #2

PABLO ARMESTO

The edition, limited to 600 bottles, with only 300 available for sale (the other 300 are shared between the winery and the artist), is presented in a work made of Corian which, in addition to protecting the bottle, interacts with it to ensure that the wine transcends its product category and is placed in the field of experience. You can include an LED light inside and appreciate the light escaping through the openings of the box, as if it were a lamp.

‘THE SECRET BEHIND THE BARRELS’ DE DAVID MAGÁN

La pieza se titula: The secret behind the barrel.
